This morning this made blog adult me smile : A friend brought me back from Japan incense sticks which, when they burn down, leave a core of ash with the kanji for Namu Amida Butsu left intact. As it turns out, the incence stick is thick and heavy and will not stand upright in the ash already in the burner. I wonder about providing special support to maintain the impermanence of ash ::link This poor Buddhist here needs a walking stick and a thick bandage to support her, to help maintain the impermanence of her body, for a while longer. I hope the nembutsu is at my core.
